Bootea trial...

I’m always one for trying new products, especially those that have had a huge hype surrounding them. I had seen a lot of celebrity ads on Instagram promoting this Bootea Detox Cleanse, so I thought why not give it a go.
For £19.99 you get 14 Daytime Cleanse teabags and 7 Night Cleanse Teabags
hey Claim that their tea:
•    Increase your metabolism
•    Burn calories and convert food to energy
•    Burn fat & counteract fat storage
•    Regulate blood sugar levels
•    Assist in the digestion of food
•    Suppress appetite
•    Improve skin health
•    Improve quality of sleep
•    Cleanse & detoxify
•    Allow you to reach your health/weightloss goals
and that all their ingredients are pure, natural & preservative free.
You drink the Daytime Cleanse every morning and the Night Cleanse every second evening. As a disclaimer, I didn’t exactly stick to the format completely as I should.
Although I planned to, unfortunately I spontaneously ended up going on a night out the weekend in-between the 14 days, so this put the detox on hold for a few days. As alcohol completely counteracts any detoxifying that the tea is trying to do, I thought it was pointless drinking it for 2 days until I naturally flushed out the alcohol myself.

The website gives you a link to their own flexible eating plan which is actually really useful for healthy recipes and snacks you can eat throughout the day. Nothing on there was that out of the ordinary to what I would usually eat anyway; however you aren’t allowed to eat much meat. And this I struggled with as I am a huge meat eater, especially when living at home and my parents are cooking dinner. Although you are allowed to have mackerel and tuna, so I tended to fill up on tuna or eat chicken (naughty). I found that red meats, contained the most toxins and so I did make a conscious effort to steer clear of them. Also, PITTA BREAD is my new favourite thing. I never considered eating it before but a wholemeal pitta with your salad at lunch time fills you up and is extremely low in fat! Pitta is also great to dip in soups, hummus, tzatziki, dippy boiled eggs..the list is endless!!!

I had read multiple reviews on the teas before I started the cleanse and every single one that I read said that they had lost weight. Even though I go to the gym around 4-5 times a week and I do eat a really balanced diet, I unfortunately found that I lost no weight and actually ended up putting on!! The only plus, was that weirdly, I felt a lot slimmer and A LOT less bloated. Bloating is something I have really suffered with in the past and it’s nice that I have found something that has settled that. Anyway, back to the weight gain, the only logical explanation I could conjour  up, would be that as the tea’s work by completely flushing out everything in your system, it can leave you extremely dehydrated. BooTea do recommend drinking at least 3 litres of water a day whilst in the 14-days; however I feel that maybe for me that wasn’t enough. And instead, my body held on to any water that it could and ended up with severely bad water retention and as a result, a few extra pounds! I have now finished the detox a few days ago now and have noticed that i've lost weight, so this does make the most sense.

Although, I never did it to actually lose weight, I wanted to see if there would be any health benefits and I did. My skin is clearer, I felt a lot more energised and the tea’s were actually also really yummy! I will definitely be re-investing in another 14-day detox for just before I go away on holiday in a few weeks, as it does truly give you that flatter stomach that you need in a bikini, no matter what the scales say!
