KAYLA ITSINES...

 

Back from travelling and having the time of my life only means one thing...back to reality!! 

Whilst looking for temp work, i've only got my blogging to keep me entertained and as I did the risky business of weighing myself the other day (kill me now) I realised keeping active will also be a great way of keeping my mind busy until I find another job. 


After not doing any exercise at all apart from walking for the last 5 months, I am extremely nervous to get back into it. So much so, I have been putting it off really for the last week, however i'm determined to get back to my half marathon self like I was just before I left the UK! 

I thought I needed something more than just the motivation to go for a run every now and then to get my arse back into gear...and that's why i've decided to give Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide a go! 

The guide is set out over 12 weeks and promises results if you complete all the workouts and live a generally healthy lifestyle. As i've turned into a self-confessed semi-alcoholic since being away, when having a few drinks every evening became the norm (also the reason why I now have a little beer belly!) I am actually looking forward to curbing alcohol for a bit and only drink at occasions. 

The guide is made up of circuit training/resistance training, cardio, HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), LISS Cardio training (glow intensity) and stretches. There are two circuits to take place on Monday and Wednesday with 2 circuits in each of them, which you have to do twice each. They're estimated to take around 7 minutes each so the whole workout adds up to 28 minutes.

She has recommended the below structure to be performed weekly: 

Weeks 1-4

2-3 sessions of resistance training 
2-3 sessions of LISS cardio training 
1 rehabilitation (stretch) session 

Weeks 5-8 

2-3 sessions of resistance training 
4-5 sessions of LISS cardio training 
1 rehabilitation (Stretch) session 

Weeks 9-12


3-4 Sessions of resistance training 

2-3 units LISS Cardio Training 
1-2 units HIIT Cardio Training 
1-2 rehabilitation training (Stretch) session(s) 

What I also love about this guide is the meaning "bikini body" is more about mental state about when girls feel confident enough to go out in a bikini and feel proud of their bodies. It's not boiled down to a skinny figure!
